# Privacy policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

This policy describes information handling on the Y2K Network website. Y2K Network is based in the United States. For privacy questions, contact [hello@y2k.network](mailto:hello@y2k.network). Individual products may have separate privacy notices describing their own data practices.

## Information you provide

This website does not currently offer accounts, purchases, newsletter signup, or a form that sends messages to our server. If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to include. We use that information to respond, manage the conversation, and address related business, support, or legal matters.

The email composer keeps an unsent draft in page-session memory while you navigate the site. It does not save that draft in browser storage or transmit it to Y2K Network. Opening it in your email application passes the draft to that application; its handling is governed by your email provider. We receive the message only if you send it.

## Browser storage and cookies

If you choose Light or Dark appearance, the website stores that choice on your device using local storage under the key `y2k-theme`. This preference is not an identifier and is not sent to our server by the website. Selecting System removes the saved preference; clearing site data in your browser also removes it.

The current website code does not set cookies or include analytics scripts, advertising pixels, or third-party tracking embeds. There is no active newsletter signup. If we introduce analytics, tracking cookies, or a newsletter, we will update this policy to describe the actual providers, information, purposes, and choices, and obtain consent where required.

## Technical requests and hosting

Loading any website sends technical information to its hosting infrastructure, such as your IP address, requested URL, browser headers, and request time. Hosting or security services may record this information in operational logs to deliver pages, investigate errors, prevent abuse, and maintain security.

For faster navigation, this website may request other pages on this same site in advance and keep their documents in temporary browser memory. That cache is not a tracking profile and does not contain contact drafts. Fonts and images are served with the site rather than fetched from a third-party font service.

## Public projects and external services

The open-source catalog is assembled from public GitHub project information when the website is built. Viewing the catalog does not make your browser contact GitHub. Following a GitHub or YouTube link takes you to that service, which may collect information under its own privacy policy.

Hosting and email providers process information needed to operate the website and handle communications. Their processing may occur in the United States or other countries. Where applicable law requires protections for international transfers, those requirements apply.

## Use and disclosure

We use information from this website for communication, website operation, security, and applicable legal obligations. We do not sell personal information collected through this website or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Information may be disclosed to service providers supporting those purposes, when legally required, or where reasonably necessary to protect rights and safety. If ownership of the business changes, relevant records may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to applicable privacy obligations.

## Retention and security

We retain correspondence as needed to address the matter, maintain relevant business records, resolve disputes, and meet applicable legal obligations. Operational log retention depends on the hosting and security configuration. A saved appearance preference remains on your device until you remove it.

No website or email system can guarantee absolute security. Avoid sending passwords or other sensitive information by ordinary email.

## Your choices and requests

You can clear the appearance preference through the System setting or your browser's site-data controls. You can use your browser's privacy settings and choose whether to follow external links or send an email.

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Send a request to [hello@y2k.network](mailto:hello@y2k.network). We may need to verify your identity, and legal exceptions may limit a request. Where applicable, you may complain to your local privacy regulator. We do not require you to create an account to contact us.

## Children and product use

This informational website does not ask visitors for an age or offer user accounts. Please do not send personal information about children through the contact address. If you believe we have received such information, contact us so we can review it and take appropriate action. Any age requirements and data practices for our products must be addressed in their separate notices.

## Policy updates

We will revise this policy when our website's information practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before a material change takes effect. For website-use conditions, see our [Terms of use](https://www.y2k.network/terms).
